Bart Boice was a True Pirate though his family moved away before we graduated. He died over the weekend in Ft. Worth, Texas. He had been living there for about four years.
I met Bart in eighth grade at Hefner Junior High in Oklahoma City. We were both new to that school. Bart and I used to go water skiing whenever possible during our days living at Ski Island. He, Sam Johnson and I took turns buying gasoline and using our family’s boats. Our group owned the water in the spring and fall afternoons. Bart and I went canoeing up and down the lakes that connected to Ski Island. Bart helped me get my 1st job in 8th grade, busing tables at My Pi. We always tried to be on the same team when playing sandlot football on the vacant lot near our homes. Bart really loved riding motorcycles and fast cars. After we graduated from PC, Bart went into jet mechanics school. He had had a successful and long career working for several airlines. Bart had been married for a number of years but went through a difficult divorce a few years back. His life changed after he moved from Wichita to Texas. I'll always have great memories of one of my best friends Bart. If you contact me, I will share memorial information for Bart as I receive it from his family.

Posted at 01:12h, 07 JanuaryI live in the community in Missouri where Bart lived while raising his boys. Bart and I laughed at what a small world it was to have gone to Hefner Junior High together, rode the bus together, to living in a small town on the outskirts of Kansas City to raise our families. He was a great guy. He has two fine sons that will carry on his name and memory. He will be greatly missed.
