Jack Boyd if you’re talking about something like UBER your personal auto insurance will not cover you if you are doing any kind of UBER or for hire driving with your personal vehicle. You have to get a separate commercial auto policy for that. Also, not all Commercial Auto Carriers cover “for hire” autos. I would suggest if you know someone who drives a cab ask them who their insurance carrier is. If you don’t know one personally you can call a local cab company and ask who their drivers use. Hope this helps (I am a Licensed Insurance Agent, Property & Casualty, Commercial, Life & Health and Annuities).

Too many UBER drivers think their personal insurance will cover them but it will not. So if there is an accident and you are UBERING they won’t pay, you would be 100% responsible for all costs.

Geico adds it to my personal coverage. Uber and Lyft have some limited covereage while you have a passenger.

When you send me the quote what I’m looking at is the liability coverage and medical for any passengers if there is an accident and what coverage if an uninsured motorist hits you. But I will let you know after i see the quote.

And the limited coverage provided by UBER or LYFT isn’t good coverage and if you have to pay for it, too expensive for very little coverage.
