On the way to the Steely Dan concert the other night with my 18-year-old daughte…

On the way to the Steely Dan concert the other night with my 18-year-old daughter, I was recounting all the concerts I’d been to over the years, most of which were in jr. high and high school. Amazingly, our parents used to DROP US OFF at the Fairgrounds or Civic Center and then pick us up when it was over, having absolutely no idea what went on once we were inside, lol. What
bands did you see back then? Can you remember who you were with?

Ted Nugent and Rush with Sherri Krahl Christensen, Ricky Payne, Kelly Jackson. One the best concerts ever!

My first concert ever was in 8th grade, Marshall Tucker Band, at the Civic Center. I went with a group of people. One distinct memory was of me and Dixie Newcomb thinking it would be a good idea to lie down upside-down on the red-carpeted stairs that led to our section. Needless to say, the security guards were NOT impressed!

Anyone remember the Prairie Lady on 39th? 1977 – 1978. I saw Taj Mahal, Hoyt Axton, Shawn Phillips, Ozark Mountain Daredevils and some others. I fell asleep behind the wheel in Drivers’ Ed the morning after Ozark Mountain DD. Coach Banz took it in stride. Joe Huffstutler and I had a wild night at Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Plus Little Feat with Tim Rybaski, Kevin Loveall and Dava Peters(?). I got to go when Tim and Melissa broke up. Thanks to Melissa. It was a great show.
